This Machine Turns Urine Into Beer Using Only The Power Of The Sun.

Let us set the scene for you: You're out for happy hour, guzzling down cheap pints of your favorite pilsner or IPA. You lose track of time, have one more beer than you planned to, maybe even throw in an order of french fries. Suddenly, that familiar urge hits you and you scoot to the bathroom, and while you're peeing, you have a moment of clarity: All of your urine is beer, you think to yourself, and you literally just flushed your money down the toilet.

Pretty depressing, right? Well, what if we told you that you could reverse that shame-cycle and turn your urine into beer? Sound gross, or does it pique your interest? 

“We call it from sewer to brewer,” say the creators of a solar-powered machine that turns urine into beer. By collecting urine in a tank and passing it through a membrane, it turns into clean water. That water can subsequently be used to make beer. 

They tested this theory at a music festival, where the pee of thousands of festival goers was turned into 1,000 liters of drinkable water. And, since these are Belgian scientists we're talking about here, the water was then used to make beer.

This is an interesting cycle of life scenario that we didn't think was possible, but now only one question remains: You have no problem drinking beer and peeing it out, but would you drink another beer made from that pee?

It's a tough call, but we're thinking they might be onto something. If this works, visits to the restroom during happy hour might never feel the same.
